Ultimately, the salon ran over an hour late, putting me at the church 30 min before I was supposed to walk down the aisle. Even with the priest starting late to accommodate us, we were literally 1-2 minutes away from missing the ceremony start time. The last 2 hours prior to walking down the aisle were filled with much stress. We missed many special moments, both in experience and in what the photographer could capture amidst the chaos.

They are honest, kind and they do an amazing job. My hair is SO thick, but Laura went over it until it was thin enough for me to be comfortable with it and it was great. I have never felt better about my hair

I've been going to Panache for the last number of years. Even though I'm a man and one would think cutting/styling my hair would be easy, it's not! Very straight with lots of areas that like to spring out if not cut at just the right length. Susan has always taken her time and made sure the cut is the way I like it with no areas that I need to plaster down with product. She is a very likable person who clearly takes the quality of service she provides seriously. I always enjoy the time I spend in her chair and would highly recommend her services to family and friends.

I’ve tried to settle this with the salon owner, privately. I don’t want to start an argument about this, but I also don’t want anyone else to experience what happened to my wedding party.

1 month out from my wedding, the salon owner emailed me that one hair stylist had resigned and they would adjust the itinerary accordingly. I replied, stating that 2 hair stylists for our large wedding party was unlikely to go well. She emailed back, stating that the resigned hair stylist would come back for my wedding. I was satisfied and didn’t worry about it.

Recently, a wedding party and I came to get our hair and makeup professionally done. Though our hair turned out decent, our makeup was less than professional. We were told we would be getting air brush done, which is supposed to make the skin look flawless, and it did not. In fact it barely did anything. The products being used were not what other professional makeup artists have used when we have previously gotten our makeup done for other occasions. I guess we just expected too much? I would come back to the salon to get my hair done again, but hold off and save the $65 and just do the makeup myself next time.

I went to the salon with a group of ladies to prepare for my brother's wedding. My hair and makeup looked really nice, and Susan was kind and obviously talented. My only complaint is with time management. Since there were 2 stylists for the group of us, I expected that there wouldn't be other appointments during ours. But there were 3 or more other clients there for color, haircuts, buying shampoo, etc. The bride made our 11 am appointment months in advance, which should have left enough time to reach the wedding destination at 3pm (or I assume she would have been advised to make an earlier appointment). Instead, the bride was actually at the destination at 4pm, leaving just enough time to dress before the ceremony at 5. This added some pressure on the photographer, who was waiting for us. We all looked very nice, but we were all getting stressed watching the time pass. Plus I was disappointed to see the bride waiting in the chair while other customers were taken care of. I would recommend the salon but would make sure that there are NO other appointments when preparing for a wedding. I debated between a score of 1 and 2, but since everything worked out in the end, I'll go with a 2.

My wedding day was short of a disaster. As we got closer to when we needed to leave, earlier hair appointments were still in the chair/later appointments hadn’t yet begun. **The makeup artist did a great job on everyone, ran satisfactory to schedule, printed out the document I had sent with changes from the trial-impressive!** When it came time for me to leave, the salon’s card reader was malfunctioning, so we wasted 15-20 min just to pay for services.

We signed a contract 7 months prior and laid out services scheduled: 13 hair & 5 makeup appointments, starting at 7:30 a.m. and the last appt. starting at 12:30 p.m. The wedding was at 2 in Petoskey with a 30 min drive from the salon. This schedule clearly stated we would have 3 hair stylists, and 1 makeup artist.

After the wedding, I emailed the owner, asking for a “significant partial refund,” leaving it open ended to be fair to her. She told us that our mistakes caused the delay: the first 2 people arrived at 7:40, my mom got her hair curled instead of a shampoo & style, the reader got an updo instead of a halfup/half down, and my Jr. Bridesmaid cancelled due to illness, reducing us to 12 hair appointments. There was no way these could have added up to an hour of late time. She told me that because I agreed to the final schedule (which did not overtly state hair stylist #), that she thought I agreed to 2 stylists, which just seemed nonsensical. I asked a hair stylist back home what staffing & timing would be for a party our size - she said even 3 stylists would be pushing it. I think we were set up for failure from the beginning, and that this salon does not have adequate organizational skills for big wedding parties. She finally gave me a partial refund of $75, less than 10% of the total bill.

From then to wedding day, I requested a few changes to the schedule. To me, these schedule changes equaled the same number of appointments, just switched around in order. The owner sent back a schedule with our girls’ names & services starting from 7:30a.m.-12 p.m. The names were sectioned off in different groupings, but neither the overall number of stylists nor the stylists’ names were stated next to the appointments. It seemed obvious that we would still have 3 hair stylists, and 1 makeup artist.

I think the owner’s intentions were good initially, but the situation was handled unprofessionally. It’s poor business practice to blame the customer when they submit a complaint. All of my other wedding vendors did an excellent job, were up front with me, and overall well organized. I think this salon could be fine with 7-8 girls max. I wouldn’t recommend booking them with any more than that.

My mom missed almost all of putting on my dress (she had to be upstairs early to sing). The last 3 girls (groom’s sister/bridesmaid, flower girl, reader) arrived within 10 min of start time and were practically ripping their clothes off & throwing their dresses on. I had to abandon putting on perfume, touching up lipstick, and a scheduled, photographed “first look” with my father.
