Wonderful park. Very quiet compared to most modern campgrounds. Views of lake Michigan are incredible. There is a lot of beach to explore and a lot of ways to get there. The hiking trail to the fisherman island outlook is a view you won't soon forget.
Love to hike the trail through the woods out to the creek and then walk back along the beach or on the road. It is about 6 miles and well worth the walk. Beautiful area!
This place is a little hidden gem. A handful of sites are right on the waterfront and a few are pull thru's. No power in the park and no sanitation site, but there are a couple of hand pumps for collecting water. Very quite and peaceful. Good place to go if your a rock hound.
Just beautiful! If you get on the main trail, hike up the ridge line on the right. There's a cool trail that runs parallel to the main trail on the top of the hill. Bring lots of water and bug spray if you're going to hike the whole loop.
We had campsite #53. We absolutely loved everything about the campgrounds....except the vault toilets! Maybe it's just me and my sensitive nose, but I dreaded having to use them every time!! The campsite was great. I highly recommend that site if you are staying. It was a lot roomier than some of the others. The beach was beautiful! We all loved swimming & looking for Petosky & Charlevoix stones. If not for the bathrooms I would for sure give this campgrounds five stars.
